Finding Your Happy Place

At Decida we encourage a balanced approach to life with equal emphasis on health, wealth and family. As a busy consultant and entrepreneur, I often work long hours and weekends meaning I can forget to take care of myself and keep my life in balance.  So last weekend I took the opportunity to spend time with 5 inspirational women with the specific focus of rest and restoration.

Amongst the fun and frivolity, we went to Crystal Castle near Byron Bay and enjoyed practising some of the mindfulness exercises and admiring nature. I highly recommend it. I was amazed at what an impact the exercises had on my mood. I can’t remember the last time I felt so at peace.

So this month I challenge you to reflect on how you are spending your time and ensure you are spending energy on both your physical and mental health and well being. As the L’Oreal Paris slogan goes, “because you are worth it”. Our featured articles this month include:

  1. Tell us what you think of the new Switch App for a chance to win FREE MOVIE TICKETS
  2. Thoughts on decision making from the awesomely talented human being, Rebecca Stephens
  3. Practice compassion with this simple exercise you can start using today
  4. Learn a practical strategy for having difficult conversations

As always, please reach out if you have questions, feedback, or would like to get involved and thank you for your ongoing support, we are eternally grateful.

Regards Roshelle and the Decida team

Learn to Practice Compassion

There are three premises behind this practice. The first is that when we perceive someone as being similar to ourselves (“just like me”), we become much more likely to feel and act positively towards that person. The second is that kind and loving thoughts towards another can be generated intentionally. The third premise is that mental habits can be formed with practice, so if we spend time and effort creating thoughts of similarity-to-others and loving kindness, over time, these thoughts get generated habitually and effortlessly, and once you have equipped yourself with that mental disposition, people start liking you even more, and you become more likely to have satisfying relationships that contribute greatly to everybody’s happiness.
